Books of 2014

Books of 2014

The year has almost come to an end, and it is time for my (second) yearly round-up of the all books I read. I didn't complete my Goodreads Reading Challenge this year that was set for 20 books. I'm not even going to lie... I got lazy. There is something new I did this year. I started reading on my iPad. I actually find it easier to read on the iPad just because I get to read laying on my side with the lights off. Again, because I'm really lazy. Anyway, here is the list of books that I read this year.
  1. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
  2. Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik
  3. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
  4. The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams
  5. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  6. Across The Universe by Beth Revis
  7. The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider
  8. Paper Towns by John Green
  9. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
  10. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
  11. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
  12. Macbeth by William Shakespeare
  13. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
  14. Let it Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle
This was my first time to read the Harry Potter series (WHAT?!). Yes, I know I'm so behind. Personally, I am not really into fantasy books like this series. When it comes to fantasy and out-of-this-world books, my imagination doesn't seem to function. But this is so different! I have watched the movies before I read the books, so maybe that helped me read it. Anyway, for 2015, my goal is to finish the series and maybe start on a new book series. Also please leave me some good book recommendations in the comments.

Life Update No2: Weekend With Friends and College Acceptance

I am going to say "my friend(s)" a lot in this blog post just because I don't want to name names. I want to keep my friends' names private, unless they want me to.

Last Friday, my friends and I had a little bonfire. It was the perfect temperature to be outside to hangout around the fire. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows to make s'mores. It was really funny roasting hotdogs because most of us ended up  eating half-raw hotdogs! We made s'mores afterwards, if you haven't tried s'mores or you don't know what s'mores are, you are missing out! They are roasted marshmallows (I prefer mine slightly burnt) and a piece of chocolate sandwiched in two pieces of graham crackers. One of my friends burnt the marshmallow that she was roasting twice. It was funny. After roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, my friend pulled out his guitar and we sang a few songs. I was forced to sing by my friends so it was kinda weird and embarrassing for me... Anyway, we hung out around the fire for a little bit, then we decided to go inside and play this board game called "Quelf". I have never played that game before. But after playing it, I can say that it was the weirdest board game I have ever played so far! My friend had her left hand in a bowl of warm water until her next turn. How weird/funny is that?

Saturday afternoon, I hung out with another group of friends. They were all in my senior class so it was pretty special to me. I was new to the school last year, and I never had a group of friends in my class until today. So, we met up at my friend's house to bake cookies and to just catch up. We first played this card game called Apples to Apples, which is apparently like Cards Against Humanity but not inappropriate. We then went out for a walk with my friends' dog to the parks around their neighborhood. The weather was perfect yesterday. It was around 20 degrees Celsius/68 degrees Fahrenheit. Then at around 4pm, we found our way back after getting lost a little bit in the trails. We then decided to bake cookies. I have never baked cookies so I kind of just watched them make it. I was really no help. But anyway, we make a pretty good batch of eggnog cookies and a completely disgusting batch of sugar cookies hahaha.

Also, a few days ago I finally received my very first college acceptance! For the past weeks, I have been anxious waiting for my acceptance to colleges. It feels really good to be accepted to a university. I can not explain how happy I am, even though I am not sure if I want to go to that university. Right now, I am still waiting for the other universities I applied to. I hope I get in to the university I want! Wish me luck!

The Christmas Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Liv from livcoley.blogspot.com to do the Christmas tag.
This is the first tag I have done so I was really excited. Also, because it is about my favorite time of the year!

1. What is your favourite Christmas movie?

I love Christmas movies so it is impossible for me to choose one. I grew up watching the Santa Clause movies with Tim Allen in it. So that is one. I also love Elf, just because it is really funny and I never get tired of it. Also, I remember watching Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas every single day of December when I was little. That movie is still a favorite just because it makes the little kid in me very happy.

2. What's your favourite Christmas colour?

Yesterday, I found out that Santa's real color was green, and that Coke just changed his color to red just for advertising. It made me so sad. Anyway, I love the classic Christmas color combinations of red, silver, and gold.

3. Do you like to stay in your PJ's or dress up for Christmas?

For Christmas, my family usually stay in and just hang out. We don't really have people over just because we celebrate Christmas with just us. So I would normally wear comfortable clothes all day, but I still try to look nice (for photos haha).

4. If you could buy only one person a present this year, who would it be for?

First of all, I do not have enough money to buy everyone I love a Christmas gift right now. I feel sorry for my friends... But hey, presents are not that important as long as we have our friendship, right?? Haha! If I were to choose one person, it would be my mom. Just because I am very thankful for all of the things she has done for our family.

5. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

It has always been a tradition to open Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve. But it's funny how now that I am older, I always ask gifts in advanced, so I can't really ask for anything for Christmas... So I don't think I'm opening any presents this year! Oh well.

6. Have you ever built a gingerbread house?

No I have not! I really want to try to though!

7. What do you like to do on your Christmas break?

Usually I take this as a time for me to actually take a break. And by break, I mean sit on the couch watch Netflix, do nothing, and just spend time with my family. I would go out with friends once in a while. But yeah, a break is a break for me!

8. Any Christmas wishes?

I have everything I need so I do not expect anything for Christmas. But I wish for everyone to be safe and happy especially during the holidays.

9. Favourite Christmas smell?

Not really a fan of Christmas scents like candles and other things... But I like the smell of fresh Christmas trees just because it reminds me of the holidays.

10. Favourite Christmas meal or treat?

Christmas cookies and hot chocolate all the way!

I enjoyed answering the questions. I now tag everyone who would like to do this tag!

Medieval Times: Dallas Castle

During my Thanksgiving break, my family and I drove up to Dallas, Texas.
When we arrived in Dallas, we met up with my mom's cousins to go to Medieval Times. It was our first time at Medieval Times, so we really didn't know what to expect. During the show, we sat at green section. We were rooting for the Green Knight, so we also had to wear these green colored paper crowns. The place didn't provide eating utensils, so we had to eat with our hands. Also, they serve a ton of food that I didn't get to finish so... I took some left-overs home haha. Anyway, the show was great, and the horses were so amazing! They were galloping around and they were dancing too! Although, I can say it's a place I wouldn't want to go visit often. It's like a one-time thing if you know what I mean...

Here are a few snaps I took.
